Bloody hell, that's powerful ... I think I held my breath for most of it. Astonishing insight, brilliantly portrayed.

Thank you so much. I believe that whilst the conversation around mental health is heading in the right direction, there remains a community of people who continue to be silenced, so I would like to play a small part in rectifying that.

And there are many of us - me at the head of the queue - who need to understand more, to hear those voices.

An amazing piece of writing. This line stopped me in my tracks:

"You’re safe but you need to stay here. We’re fixing you; you’re fixing you. We want to take our hands away."

I'm glad you enjoyed the piece, Andrew, if that's the right way of putting it.

Powerful. As a project manager for my state, most of my work over the past few years have been at mental health facilities. I've heard much about what the patients can do in harming themselves and others. I've also heard about the difficulty in hiring and retaining staff.

As an architect my work is detached from the patients themselves. Given privacy concerns, I actively un-remember anyone I see in the course of my work. As non-medical staff, I think it's the proper thing to do, but doesn't make the erasure any less stifling. Thank you for illuminating who I'm serving.

I just had to have a tiny cry for poor Sam.

Great writing.
